Growing up in the small town of Kilcoy, Queensland, Nathan began his golf career at the local club as a junior. After having a successful junior career, Nathan turned professional at 18 years of age when he commenced his traineeship at Woodford Golf Club and completed his studies at Brisbane's Indooroopilly Golf Club.

Since that time, Nathan has played on the Australasian PGA Tour before settling into his passion for golf operations, teaching and club fitting within golf clubs, having worked in five states across Australia.

In 2011, along with his wife Jacqui Baker-Stubbs, Nathan successfully created Stubbs Golf at Armidale Golf Shop in Northern New South Wales. Since that time, Stubbs Golf has expanded and relocated to Devonport Golf Shop in Northern Tasmania, and now to the Sanctuary Lakes Club in Melbourne where Nathan provides lessons to all golfers while also playing a number of tour events on the Australasian calendar each year.​
